(Acid-free and lignin-free cardstock paper, mixed media) 2025

This piece is my interpretation of the source of everything: the universe (the one with many names, unconditional love).

To me, its form echoes that of a mandala, a sacred symbol which, in many traditions, is believed to open a sacred space for divine presence, aid meditation, and serve as a portal to the eternal.

I constructed the center of this artwork using water from two contrasting sources – the peaceful, soothing water bubbling up from Wekiwa Springs, and the powerful destructive rain falling from the sky during Hurricanes Milton and Helene. The difference of the two sources and the energy they hold speaks to the balance of forces in the universe: creation and destruction, calm and chaos, gentleness and power — all held together in harmony. The shadows cast on the wall also illuminate the ideas of the balance of light and dark, seen and unseen and movement and stillness.

The colors in this artwork are intentionally the same as the Self Portrait hanging on the opposite facing wall. The connection between the two works represents the idea that l am a reflection of the divine, and the divine is a reflection of me.

Sacred energies infused in the work: Water from Wekiwa Springs and Hurricanes Helene and Milton, Love, Joy, Wonder, Kindness, Compassion, Gratitude and Peace
